Loft Boards Damp

loft boards damp

Stopping condensation in the loft is a two step process. principally you must ensure that the loft is effectively ventilated in order to improve air flow and to allow damp air to disperse outside rather than settle on loft surfaces. in an attempt to do his you may want to: ensure ventilation slots in the roof space are unobstructed.. I have recently insulted my loft with rockwool insulation. following this i then boarded out the centre of the loft with loft boards. i now appear to have a condensation problem with the roof felt building up with moisture and dripping onto the contents of the loft. i haven't insulated up to the eaves. the loft is fairly full. the pipes are lagged.. So some suggest that if boards are raised with gaps at the end of the floor boards, it gives this condensation some airflow. the main use promoted for "loft legs" is to allow for the 270mm of insulation noted as building regulation in a normal domestic property (if laid in the ceiling joists)..

loft boards damp I am having the same problem, all of the joists and loft boards are wet and moist and i am really worried about it. there are pools of water all over the loft space. at the eaves there is a huge amount of water dripping and some of it is ice. i have put extra lagging down however it seems to have made it worse.. My loft was damp recently because when the grant funded extra insulation was put in they blocked the under the eaves ventilation and didn't put any other ventilation in. ventilation has to be above the insulation - if you have the current suggested amount of insulation then the chances are that the original ventilation will no longer be.
